Department of Amraze Jild Wa Tazyeeniyat

The Department of Amraze Jild wa Tazeeniyat, also known as the Department of Dermatology and Cosmetology, was established in the academic year 2018-19, marking India's first institution to offer a postgraduate course (M.D. Unani) in Unani dermatology and cosmetology. The mission is to provide quality education and comprehensive care for the health and aesthetics of skin, hair, and nails, grounded in the holistic principles of Unani Medicine. By emphasizing the balance of Akhlat (humours), the aim is to understand the root causes of skin disorders and cosmetic concerns, offering a broad range of therapeutic interventions.

Since its inception, the department has expanded its postgraduate program, initially enrolling five students in 2018 and subsequently increasing the intake to six in 2020. The overarching objectives include advancing education in Unani dermatology and cosmetology, delivering safe and effective treatments, and driving innovation to establish itself as a centre of excellence in the field. Looking ahead, the initiation of a Ph.D. program is being thoughtfully considered, reflecting an ongoing commitment to advancing research and education in Unani dermatology and cosmetology.

The core focus of the department revolves around providing extensive clinical care, covering a broad range of issues from skin, hair, and nail ailments to sexually transmitted infections. The department boasts a team of highly skilled dermatologists and cosmetologists dedicated to delivering exceptional medical and aesthetic treatments. Utilizing advanced diagnostic techniques and staying abreast of the latest medical research, accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans are offered to improve skin health, alleviate discomfort, and enhance the quality of life.

Additionally, there is a particular emphasis on cosmetic treatments, addressing various concerns like acne, melasma, pigmentation issues, and scarring. With a specialized unit dedicated to cosmetology, the department delivers a diverse range of both traditional Unani and advanced cosmetic procedures. Modern diagnostic methods include KOH mount, dermoscopy, trichoscopy, Wood’s lamp examination and therapeutic procedures like Electrical Cauterization, Galvanic Facial Treatment, High Frequency Treatment, Chemical Peeling, Comedone & Milia Extraction, Dermarolling, PRP Therapy, GFC therapy, Laser treatment, Phototherapy and Hydrafacial Treatments. Traditional Unani treatments such as Ghaza face, Zemad face, Inkebab face, Inkebab hair, Ghusule Ra’as, and Pashoya are also offered. In the future, the aim is to start non-surgical procedures such as Botox, dermal fillers etc.
