Unani System of Medicine has a long and
impressive record in India, with a glorious
tradition of thousands of years. National
Institute of Unani Medicine, Bangalore, is an
Autonomous Institution under the Department of
AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
Government of India. It was established by
Central Government in collaboration with the
Government of Karnataka in 1984 to serve as a
model Institute for evolving high standard of
teaching, training and research and also to
invoke scientific outlook to the knowledge of
Unani System of Medicine.
The academic activities of the institute were
started in the year 2004-05. When the first
batch of students was admitted to pursue Mahire
Tib (M.D. Unani) course in four subjects viz.
Moalejat, Ilmul Advia, Hifzane Sehat and Ilmul
Qabalat wa Amraze Niswan.
The institute is located at Kottigepalya, Magadi
main road, in Bangalore city in 55 acres of
land. It is just 12 kms away from the central
bus terminal and railway station. This institute
is well connected with bus routes from all over
the city.
The institute has well-equipped infrastructure
like Academic, Library, Pharmacy, Hostel and
Administrative blocks. It has a 100-bedded
hospital with various wards and OPD’s like
General Male and Female, Gynaec & Obstetrics,
Medical Speciality clinics for Liver, Skin,
Cardiac, Pulmonary, Nervous system, Psychiatric
diseases, etc., along with Health Promotive,
Regimental and Vaccination Units. Lot of
developmental work is still going on in the
institute. |
